Our Journey

In 2005, with a second child on the way and a deep passion for dogs, our founder saw a new path opening up - a career as a dog trainer. Unable to have a dog during childhood due to living circumstances, the desire to bond with these loyal companions only grew stronger. At the age of 16, a newspaper ad led to a dog in need of a home, and so began the journey into the world of dogs. It was a journey filled with countless books, visits to various libraries, and a growing fascination for understanding dogs.

This passion culminated in 2005, when our founder became a certified Master Dog Trainer & Animal Behavioral Consultant & Specialist. A career blossomed from a lifelong love for dogs, and CIA Dog Training was born.

Our Mission

At CIA Dog Training, our mission is to reduce the number of dogs rehomed, abandoned, or surrendered due to behavioral issues. We aim to eliminate the headaches of dog ownership, allowing owners to enjoy the companionship of well-behaved dogs. We're not just about training dogs - we're about empowering owners, breaking down false beliefs, and creating harmonious relationships between humans and dogs.

Our work goes beyond simple dog training - it often feels more like life coaching. We work with individuals, families, children, and people with disabilities, helping them understand and adjust the behaviors that might be preventing them from fully enjoying their relationship with their dog.

Our Team

Our team, though it evolves, has always been integral to CIA Dog Training.

• Dawn handles scheduling, assists in training, and takes care of our boarding dogs.
• Tami, with us since 2007, is our kennel care expert and the primary trainer for our off-leash program.
• Jeff, our founder, handles all inquiries, sales, private in-home sessions, and human training for the off-leash program.

Our Values

We believe that all humans are doing their best with the tools and knowledge they have. We understand that to change a dog's behavior, we often need to change the human's behavior first. We believe in Patience, Repetition, and Consistency (PRC) and that dogs, like humans, are guided by the desire to escape pain and gain pleasure.

We're committed to finding the best training approach for each unique human-dog pair, acknowledging that not every method suits everyone. Our belief is firm: there are no 'bad' dogs, just varying degrees of training challenges.
